Get glowing skin with Jolii Spektra Sticks and other luxe highlighters

Highlighters are the modern day lipsticks. Earlier lipsticks were worn to brighten and refresh the face, a task that has been taken over by an illuminator or highlighter these days. However, not all are created equal. Some of them have very obvious particles of shimmer, which makes open pores and acne scars even more obvious. When I look for a highlighters, I choose one which is extremely, super-finely milled, so when I apply it, I only see radiance and not shimmer.

Jolii Cosmetics was founded by Sasha Suresh (an Indian woman) in America. Her entire line is 100% cruelty free, vegan, gluten free and paraben free. Her products are all crafted in Italy, in small batches, and packaged in refined glass. She sent across a bunch of makeup, but I first want to review the two Spektra Sticks in Stella (rose quartz shade), and Celeste (gold). They have been named the most pigmented highlighter by Allure magazine. Of course they’re super pigmented but they’re also easy to blend, without a hint of shimmer. I mix both the shades and I looked absolutely radiant. The last time I wore these sticks, I got compliments on my skin and not the highlighter. Its always a good thing when any makeup makes you look naturally beautiful. I’m sorry but if someone compliments you on your highlighter or foundation, then it’s obviously not the right product for you.

Sasha will soon be launching Jolii in India and I for one am waiting for the products to arrive on our shores. Meanwhile you can check out the entire range here.

Now for my other favourite highlighters:

Kevyn Aucoin The Celestial Skin Liquid Highlighter
No shimmer, only glow. Makes your skin look amazing and can be used on textured, oily, breakout prone skin too.

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Topaz
I know, I know Moonstone is the crowd favourite, but I like this soppy bronze shade because it works both as a bronzer and highlighter.

Benefit High Beam
This was my first highlighter and I still love it for times when I want obvious definition on my cheekbones. The only thing is that you have to blend it really quickly or it looks patchy.
