Jetsetting Beauty: Gayatri Rangachari Shah

She is the contributing editor for Vogue India, the India vice president for Tina Brown’s Women of the World, and writes for publications including the New York Times. It’s quite natural to see Shah looking absolutely amazing shuttling around the world - from Davos to New York, back to Mumbai and then on to another glamorous destination in the blink of an eye. She shares with us her travel beauty secrets:

How do you keep your skin hydrated during long flights?
I always carry Kama Ayurveda Kumkumadi Miraculous Beauty Fluid and apply it on my face throughout long flights. Or else cold pressed coconut oil or olive oil. It does wonders to hydrate the skin.

What’s in your handbag?
Ipad mini with all my reading, organic non alcoholic hand sanitizer, my make up pouch, wallet, phone, phone charger, headphones and socks, eye masque and chewing gum.

What beauty essentials do you always carry with you for a trip?
Apart from the Kama night serum, Nuxe Nuxellence Eclat, Nuxe Sun SPF 30, Benefit Fine One Blush Stick, Chanel No 5 Purse Spray, M.A.C Double Wear Eye Pencil in Forest, Victoria Beckham for Estée Lauder Eye Kajal, Estée Lauder Sumptuous Mascara in Black, three shades of lipstick (YSL Rouge Pur Couture in Le Fuchsia, M.A.C Matte Lipstick in Mehr and Chanel Rouge Allure in Excessive), Boots Eye Make Up Remover Pads and Face Wipes, and a Mason Pearson hair brush.

Is there any treatment that you find works wonderfully before a trip?
I normally never have time to do anything beforehand. But after a trip I try to get in a 90 minute hydrating, relaxing facial.

How do you keep your hair looking groomed when you’re travelling?
If you know me, you know my hair is always pulled back either in a pony tail or bun. I'll put a small pin and leave it down to dress it up. Since my hair is quite straight, its not too hard to work with. But I find keeping it tied most effective.

What are your favourite place to shop for beauty products when you’re travelling?
Duty Free at most large airports is always fun. In New York, its Bergorf Goodman’s, Barney's beauty floor or Sephora. In London, I love Selfridges, Harvey Nichols or Harrods for beauty. Department stores are always the most convenient for one stop beauty shopping.

Tell us about three favourite beauty products that your picked up while travelling.
In London a few months ago I bought everything I could find of Estée Lauder's Victoria Beckham beauty range. Not only are the colours fabulous, I just adore the packaging which is sleek, grown up and beautiful. I love the Morning Aura Illuminating Cream, the Eye Palettes for evening and of course the Kajal.
